Former UFC interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson claims that Justin Gaethje will not walk out of the cage.

For nearly a decade, Tony Ferguson has steamrolled through his opponents. He has claimed victories over some of the best contenders in the division. Having fought for an interim UFC title before, Ferguson knows a thing or two about preparing for such an event. Like usual, his training camp is isolated.

Tony Ferguson on his training camp

“I have a very small circle and I have to do that. Because if you hang out with people that have big egos, you’re gonna act like you have a big ego.” Ferguson said (via UFC YouTube channel) “I’m too busy worrying about my [expletive] and I love this [expletive], man. I’m a [expletive] contracted killer out there.”

Ferguson has an unending gas tank. “El Cucuy” can go five rounds at full speed without tiring himself out. According to Ferguson, he is confident about his training camp, as this has been one of the longest camps of his career. Apparently, he started training in December 2019.

“I’m always preparing for three to four people and that’s why I’m ahead of schedule. I haven’t had this confidence in a long [expletive] time and it took the training that I needed and an opponent. He’s not getting out of that cage.”

Tony Ferguson weighs in on Justin Gaethje

Although Gaethje does not use his wrestling often, he is considered as one of the best wrestlers in the division. Along with that, he has devastating leg kicks, decent cardio, and a brutal right hand which can put anyone to sleep. Yet, Ferguson thinks, Gaethje is one dimensional.

One-dimensional is what he is, but he’s very good at it. He brings in a certain kind of culture I guess what you would say.”

How will Ferguson beat Gaethje? The answer is simple. Just like everyone else. The “Boogeyman” said that he will overwhelm Gaethje with his pressure and break him down.

“I’m going to wear em’ down. Wear em’ down, wear em’ down, wear em’ down, wear em’ down like a paperclip– til they break. And they won’t be able to put themselves back together.”
