UFC 249 in Jeopardy. Colby Covington Comes to the Rescue

UFC 249 is under jeopardy. A lot is going down. Here is all that we know as of now. Will Dana White stick to his promise or will he fall short?

The Coronavirus Pandemic has put the entire world on lockdown. The UFC isn’t an exception. But Dana White would like to prove otherwise. Dana White on several occasions has reassured the fans that they will get what they want, irrespective of the circumstances.

Danan White has even gone to the extent of not even disclosing the location of the event. If UFC 249 happens, it will take place without the presence of a live audience. So now the question to answer is, will there be fighters ready to take to the octagon at such short notice?

Khabib Nurmagomedov is locked down in Russia

Khabib has just updated us on the fact that he is currently stuck in his hometown. Russia has banned all international flights. Russian might be going into lockdown soon. Khabib himself has confirmed by saying, “So we had to fly back to Russia. Currently, I am in Dagestan and I am training and preparing every day. Although I don’t know what am I preparing for. Because after we came to Russia we also learned that the borders are going to be locked. Same as in the States, same like in Europe, Emirates, everywhere. The whole world is in quarantine right now.”

So if Khabib can’t make it to the main event, is there a back-up? A lot of fighters have come out and said they are ready to fight at UFC 249. But will any of these actually go through?

All the other possible fights for UFC 249

Seeing the current situation the event is in, a lot of fighters have stepped up to save the day.

Jorge Masvidal has said he’s available to fight. But he hasn’t made it clear as to who he wants to fight. So as of now, his options are either Kamaru Usman or Tony Ferguson. Nothing is certain as of now.

Tony Ferguson as of now seems ready to go. But he too has quite a few options as of now. In a surprising turn of events, Dustin Poirier has said he will go ahead and take on Tony Ferguson at the main event. So tony now has Masvidal and Poirier. Who knows what else will crop up in the days to come.

 

 

Colby Covington is ready to fight

Colby Covington is persistently behind Tyrone Woodley. He once again called out Woodley in hopes of him responding this time. Colby really wants his hands on Woodley and UFC 249 seems like the earliest and easiest way to do it.

Colby Covington was initially supposed to fight Leon Edwards in London but that didn’t fall through. Covington even offered to fight Woodley on notice as short as 6 days. But again, that also didn’t fall through. So here he is trying once again.

A lot of prospective fights with no official confirmation as yet. Will Dana White pull this off? Or will he too crumble under the pandemic pressures?
