However, Dana White is certain that life needs to go on. Therefore White feels that organizing the event is a step towards achieving normalcy.

With the Coronavirus tightening its grip around the world, it puts everything in perspective and people realize what is actually important. Therefore a number of fans and experts have been criticizing White for pursuing his quest to stage the event.

White believes setting up UFC 249 and making sure that it goes through without a hitch, is the first step to finding a solution. He feels

“First of all, sports need to happen. We need to figure out the solutions. How do you make it safe and let it go on. That’s what the world needs to do. What are kids never gonna go back to school? I mean I’m hearing, the governor of California came out yesterday and said, NFL will not start in September.”- Dana White to Brett Okamoto

White doubles down on the importance of going back to normal life. He talks about how there are a number of kids who only eat when they attend school. People living in poverty, people who have lost their jobs, all of whom are desperate to go back to how it was earlier.

“What are the answers? How do we fix this and how do we get back to normal? In my own little world, I’m just trying to figure that out for me. We’ve done everything the CDC (Centre for Disease Control)and the government has asked us to do.”- Dana White

Dana White Hits Back at People Calling Him a Money Grubber

White accepts that it is a monetary loss for his organization. However, he claims that it is not about money. It is not just the UFC that is losing money the NFL, the NBA and more are all up there when it comes to financial losses.

“They’re like ‘oh this guy is just doing it because he’s money-hungry,’ I don’t need the money. I didn’t need the money 4 years ago. I could have left them and gone. When people say this is all about money, I got a great house. I can do this for the next 5 years if they want to. And I have the money. It’s never been about the money.”- Dana White

White feels that people need to move on. Staying inside the house until September is just not a realistic possibility. Since White has already pulled an event off successfully in Brazil, he is confident that he can do it again. And by organizing UFC 249 safely, White hopes to inspire other sporting organizations to look for alternative options to resume their proceedings.
