UFC 249 is almost and MMA fans all over the world have been waiting anxiously for this moment. However, there is a stark divide amongst the ones who oppose Dana White for hosting an event even though the country is struggling with a severe public health epidemic.

Many prominent figures, like Bob Arum, have been criticizing Dana for his relentless pursuit of UFC 249. In addition, a huge faction amongst the fans agrees with the likes of Arum, hoisting him up as the voice of reason.

However, The Cookie Monster comes to White’s rescue., defending him against this flak. White recalls the same while giving her a shout out in an interview with BT Sport.

“To read a quote like that from Carla Esparza, a woman who’s going in this weekend to compete. I love this sport. I love everything about it. She’s a bada**. She’s one of many reasons that I love this sport and love being a part of it,” said White while lauding Esparza for her enthusiasm going into UFC 249 amid a global crisis.

White goes on to explain what sets fighters like Esparza apart from ordinary people. The desire to go the extra mile, the will power to put oneself at risk to achieve greatness. The greatest fighters of all time are brimming with these qualities.

White hurls praises at Esparza cementing her place in the “top ten forever”.

Despite the Coronavirus epidemic tightening its grip all over the world, the opportunity to fight at UFC 249 was undeniably too lucrative to pass up. It is not surprising that a will to compete, even in the most adverse of circumstances exists among fighters.

“As fighters, we knowingly take a risk every time we step in that cage, and this is always our choice. Regardless of what people’s opinions are, the UFC is giving us another choice. To me, that’s what this country is about, the freedom to make our own choices.” claims Esparza as she explains why she can’t wait to step back into the octagon.

Esparza is looking to take on The Karate Hottie, Michelle Waterson, after their fight was rescheduled to May 9th. Waterson is coming off a loss against Joanna Jedrzejczyk back in October 2019, hungry to vindicate herself. On the other hand, Esparza is riding a streak of two consecutive wins over Alexa Grasso and Virna Jandiroba.
