Following the Super Bowl altercation between Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman, it makes absolute sense that the UFC is keeping the duo apart ahead of the weekend. The company even sent both fighters to Abu Dhabi on different jets. ‘Gamebred’ has poked fun at the Welterweight Champion over his tweets of “flying private.” However, he expressed his disappointment and wishes he had been a split second late at the hotel lobby.

In a chat with ESPN MMA, the UFC BMF Champion says he wasn’t aware of being that close to ‘The Nigerian Nightmare.’ ‘Gamebred’ said, “I didn’t know about it till they showed me the video. And that was pretty f**king trippy man!… It was a little bit surreal cause I have great peripherals.”

In the video, the 3rd ranked Welterweight contender glances at his phone. Later fans see him with glasses just before he steps into the elevator.

He said, “I happened to just look right at my phone and got my eyes dilated as well. So I had those funky glasses on and I really couldn’t see that well and it just happened man.”

Jorge Masvidal wishes he had run into Kamaru Usman

When quizzed regarding actually running into his opponent, ‘Gamebred’ reminisces on the moment and wishes that it was so. He responded, “The bigger part of me wishes I had run into him. You know just the hello how are you type of thing.”

Kamaru Usman had been training for the fight for over a month. However, the opponent he had in mind was Gilbert Burns. In this regard, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has said that he doesn’t see faces and whoever stands across him will get the same disciplinary action.

Usman knew he would be fighting and would have been readying himself for a weight cut. Masvidal on the other hand needed to drop over 20 pounds in under a week to hit the scales at 170.

Should the championship fight be made official, it will be the first time ‘Gamebred’ will compete for a divisional belt. Do you see him being able to dethrone ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ at UFC 251 and ascend to the top of the Welterweight division?
