“Both Guys Are Animals!”- Dana White Announces ‘Fight of the Year’ Candidate for 2020

UFC President Dana White spoke to the media at a post-fight scrum following the events of UFC 252 in Vegas. White touched upon several aspects of the fight game after the UFC wrapped up yet another massive pay-per-view event. The heavyweight headliner for the card lived up to expectations and will go down as an all-time classic in the promotion.

Additionally, White expressed his views on a newly announced match-up that is set to headline UFC 253 on September 26. Undisputed Middleweight king Israel Adesanya will square off against Paulo Costa for the gold strap. Moreover, the fight has been in the works ever since ‘The Last Stylebender’ secured his first title defense.

The long-time boss of the UFC answered the media’s questions regarding the aforementioned title fight slated for September.

“I don’t know what you guys think, but I predict that’s Fight of the Year. Like I said, Adesanya vs Costa is the Fight of the Year, I predict that’s going to be an incredibly badass fight”

He doubled down on his views, stating that the next UFC pay-per-view would perhaps stand out amongst all others. Next, he broke down the fight and provide an early preview to the MMA community. The contrast in styles for both 185-pound fighters is significant when dealing with such elite athletes.

“I think stylistically it’s the perfect fight if you look at the way Costa fights, he puts pressure on you, he stays in your face the whole time. Adesanya likes to stay on the outside and pick you apart. I think that fight is going to be an absolute war.

“Just stylistically, it matches up really, really well. Both guys are animals, both guys want this fight really, really bad. I think it’s going to be ‘Fight of the Year’.”

A fight between the top-tier Middleweights has the MMA community champing at the bit more than a month out. Both fighters have no love lost for each other and will bring in a high octane ferocity into the cage. If the social media back and forth is to be believed, the headliner for UFC 253 will be a barn-burner.
