UFC 252 is underway from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The early preliminary and preliminary cards are part of the history books. Decision wins largely dominated proceedings, but submission specialist Virna Jandiroba managed to make her opponent tap in within two minutes.

Jandiroba took the fight to the ground quickly and had Felice Herrig at her mercy right from the get-go. Ninety seconds into the fight, ‘Carcara’ sat atop her opponent and doled out punishment.

As Herrig tried to wriggle out, Jandiroba gave her enough room only to take advantage and lock in an armbar. ‘Lil Bulldog’ attempted to prevent the inevitable by staying in close range. However, her efforts proved futile as ‘Carcara’ secured the extension.

Within seconds, Herrig tapped out to hand her opponent her sixteenth career win in seventeen fights. After embracing her opponent, Jandiroba let out a scream in celebration as Herrig had her arm examined by the doctor at the octagon side.

Jandiroba’s win puts her in fourth place, replacing the woman she beat, Felice Herrig. ‘Lil Bulldog’ earned her submission win in 2016 when she tapped Kailin Curran at Fight Night: Holm vs Shevchenko.

Jandiroba seems to have found her footing in the UFC. She has recovered with two wins after losing her promotional debut to former UFC strawweight champion Carla Esparza. Meanwhile, Herrig, who last competed in October 2018, would not have envisioned her return transpiring like this.

She is now on a three-fight losing streak and is in danger of losing her ranking as she hasn’t had her hand raised in the UFC since beating Cortney Casey in 2017. At present, she is fifteenth in the UFC women’s strawweight division.

However, for Virna Jandiroba, the sky’s the limit as she will look to capitalize on her momentum and further her fledgling UFC career. How impressive was her performance on the night?
