UFC Heavyweight Jairzinho Rozenstruik scored an emphatic TKO victory over the number 5 ranked divisional rival in Junior Dos Santos. The ATT teammates were the third feature bout on the main card for UFC 252 taking place in Las Vegas. Moreover, the massive finish for ‘Bigi Boy’ will mark a crucial step forward in the competitive UFC Heavyweight division.

Following the second-round stoppage, both fighters engaged in a truly inspiring moment of sportsmanship. There was no animosity between the two fighters, who have shown themselves to be thorough professionals.

The moment of fellowship after a hard-fought battle is oftentimes the most endeared aspect of combat sports. Both aforementioned fighters have an extended history of being engaged in martial arts at the highest level. With a victory over the former champion, Jairzinho once again reclaims his spot at the top of the weight class. He suffered his first professional setback when he was stopped by Francis Ngannou early in the first round. The MMA community pondered whether he would be gun-shy after being KO’ed for the first time in MMA. His late-win over Alistair Overeem primarily sticks out for Rozenstruik’s ability to display toughness in a fight.

The Surinamese fighter has proven that his extended background in kickboxing has prepared him for the big stage. He has over 80 kickboxing fights and he launched a comeback from the two KO losses he suffered during that period. His future in the UFC appears to be bright as he continues on an upward trajectory.

Junior Dos Santos will have to go back to the drawing board after suffering his third straight KO/TKO loss in the promotion. ‘Cigano’ still remains an elite combatant and a major threat to fighters aiming at the gold strap. He could not close distance effectively and has somewhat questionable durability late into his career.

JDS will most likely be keen to face off against the lower-ranked opponents in the division and once again build his way up. The heavyweight division is as exciting as ever, with several surging prospects throughout the weight class.
