The UFC is set to make its highly anticipated return to Yas Fight Island after an exceedingly successful initial stint. Moreover, the leading MMA promotion announced that a staple feature in the organization is about to be re-introduced. Veteran commentator Jon Anik broke the news that the UFC was planning to bring back in-cage post-fight interviews at UFC 253.

The long-standing tradition has been absent from the MMA sphere due to the current climate of COVID-19. Octagon interviews and fighter interaction were outside the cage. This was a necessity to curb the lethal threat of the pandemic that affected all facets of the world.

UFC: Onward and upward

The UFC President Dana White and the UFC brass have helped to set the company apart by their ventures during the pandemic. Moreover, the UFC was the first major sports league to make their return to action during the pandemic era. Several other leagues such as the NBA and the MLB spent a significant amount trying to get back into action.

The aptly named “Pandemic era” has produced several key fighters into the limelight. Several fighters such as Ariane Lipski, Bobby Green, and Khamzat Chimaev have broken into the mainstream. Additionally, the UFC has shown no signs of slowing down as Dana White’s Contender Series continues to churn out top prospects.

With the return of in-cage post-fight interviews, a sense of normalcy will return to the overall brand of the promotion. The interviews have produced some memorable moments that are almost as iconic as the fights themselves. The socially distanced interviews in some way took away the bringing out the individuality of each fighter following their matches
