Jan Blachowicz pulled off a tremendous round two TKO victory over Dominick Reyes at UFC 253. He became the first man not called Jon Jones or Daniel Cormier to win the light heavyweight title since 2011. The Polish superstar put on a masterclass and broke Reyes down with body kicks before going in for the kill towards the end of the second round.

Blachowicz’s power was on full display throughout the fight. With him beating Reyes, who people thought beat ‘Bones’ in their last fight, the question of whether Jan could have done this against Jones lingers. However, the Polish fighter doesn’t want that question hanging over him.

The new light heavyweight champion called out the longtime former champion in his post-fight interview and advised him to not be a quitter.

Jan Blachowicz calls out Jones, and Jones responds

The former champion has been active on Twitter for the duration of this fight. He commentated on the fight, and even poked fun at his former challenge Reyes. However, Jan’s call-out ruffled the feathers of the now heavyweight fighter. While he ended his twitter tirade by congratulating the new champion, a lot transpired before that.

As Jan started the call-out, we saw Jones react to it instantly. However, whether the dismay was at the call-out or the win is unknown. If he is looking ahead to heavyweight, this shouldn’t have drawn the reaction it has.

Jones also took exception to the callous nature of the casual call-out. He thinks Blachowicz might be underestimating who he is, with many young upstarts before him thinking they could beat him. That included Reyes, so Jones gave a clear message.

Jones evidently thought Jan was being a little too cocky for calling him out and calling him a quitter.

It is unlikely that Jones returns to get his belt back, especially after he relinquished it while undefeated. It is a risk for his legacy in that division, as he may remain the 205-pound GOAT for years to come. Jan may never get the opportunity to usurp Jones in a fight, but he could do something for himself by having a dominant reign. At least Jones is done tweeting for the night.
