Miranda Maverick looked absolutely incredible in her UFC debut as she picked up a stoppage win over Liana Jojua at UFC 254. While there is a reason to believe that the stoppage was controversial, Maverick looked sharper and much quicker than her opponent. The 23-year-old is a big name in her own right, having won the Invicta FC flyweight tournament before making her debut inside the UFC octagon.

Going into the fight, ‘Fear The’ showed great footwork and looked absolutely lethal with her jab work. While there were moments from Jojua throughout the fight lasted, Maverick proved to be too good for the rising flyweight contender.

She said, “He told me you showed me plenty. I told him I wanted to show him, going into the second round or the third round. I wanted to show him a finish. He was like that was a finish. But I wanted to go in there and show a finish in the middle of the round. But it is what it is.”

The 23-year-old has sent a notice to the entire flyweight division with this win. Now, she will look to further cement her position inside the UFC going forward.

Maverick said, “I’m ready for the next one. Put me in. I want to show that I have more abilities that just the ground game and that’s what people say about me that I am not that well-rounded. I showed today, I have striking, I just don’t usually have to use it. Why get punched when you don’t have to, you know what I mean…I’m ready to scare this entire division.”
