Hawes had made a strong statement in his ‘Dana White’s Contender Series’ appearance and has followed through on his potential. He clinically stalked Jacob around the cage and bottled him up against the fence. A crisp strike in close range was all it took, and Jacob Malkoun slumped over. The referee was quick to call off the fight as ‘Mamba’ wasn’t in any position to defend himself intelligently.

Jacob Malkoun came in as a solid prospect, being Robert Whittaker’s primary training partner. Despite his inexperience on the big stage, the main card slot was a massive opportunity to make a splash in his first promotional appearance. However, he will have to re-access his moves going forward after showing great hesitation to engage under the bright lights.
