After putting on an exhilarating performance at UFC 255, Valentina Shevchenko defended her flyweight title for the fourth consecutive time. She extended her professional win-loss record to 20-3 as a result of her latest win. The fighter displayed her prowess on the mat and employed striking to good effect against a game Jennifer Maia.

In her post-fight interaction with the media, Shevchenko spoke about her opponents, her next fight, and more.

Shevchenko stated, “I don’t choose my opponents, whoever gonna be front of me, I am gonna face some of them. For me, it doesn’t do any difference, Andrade (Jessica) or someone else or whoever! I think it would be fair to have Andrade against Lauren Murphy because Lauren Murphy showed her strengths and has a lot of wins like straight wins but equation, I won’t wait at (until) March.”

She added, “I don’t want to wait till March because I was waiting a lot already. I am not agreeing to wait more because if they fight then say they’ve to recover and it’s gonna be few months from here.”

This will be an interesting battle between two game contenders who have not fought for gold at flyweight. However, there is another interesting fight for Shevchenko should she want to remain active.

Should there be a trilogy between Valentina Shevchenko and Amanda Nunes?

‘The Bullet’ has cemented herself as one of the finest women to step inside the Octagon alongside Weili Zhang & Amanda Nunes. The trio rule with an iron fist and are always prime candidates to fight the other.

Amy Kaplan wrote, “Valentina says she is more interested in the third fight with Amanda than with Zhang. But wants there to be fans. #UFC255”

Shevchenko has clashed with the two-division champion, Amanda Nunes, twice in her career. She has lost both bouts and wants to open her account against ‘The Lioness‘. She opted for this fight rather than one against the UFC strawweight champion.

The top-ranked female pound-for-pound fighter, Nunes holds the bantamweight and featherweight gold.  Despite Shevchenko being as dominant as she is, she will have to pick things up if she is to avenge her only defeats in the UFC.

Who do you think deserves a flyweight title shot next against Shevchenko? Should the ‘Bullet’ attempt to become a two-division champion by challenging Nunes at bantamweight? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
