UFC welterweights Mike Perry and Tim Means are placed at the mid-point of the main card for UFC 255. Don’t expect this bout to go the distance, as both fighters are known for having a violent streak. Additionally, the winner of the fight will move up closer to contention in the division that is largely top heavy.

Former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler was supposed to be the original opponent for Mike Perry. However, ‘Ruthless’ suffered an injury, thus opening the door for Tim Means to make his championship intentions known. The bout has been marketed as a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ fight and it has ‘Fight of the Night’ potential written all over it.

UFC welterweights: Mike Perry vs Tim Means

‘Platinum’ Mike Perry has had a tough run as of late going 2-3 in his last 5 outings. Chiefly, he’s been finished twice in that time period, but it seems as though he’s turning things around. He’s fresh off a win over Mickey Gall, and this upcoming match-up against Means will be crucial for his career.

Mike Perry’s game plan is rather rudimentary from the outset. He’s consistently looking to chase the finish. Moreover, he’s a brawler with an iron chin, thus enabling him to invade his opponents’ personal space to earn the stoppage. Although Perry is usually the toughest guy in the octagon, the grizzly veteran in Means may have a say in that.

Tim Means has been fighting in the UFC since 2012 and although he’s had stints in other promotions, he’s faced top competition. The 30-12-1 veteran has seen it all. His experience could be a huge factor in the fight. ‘Platinum’ Mike can be overzealous at times and Means will be looking to capitalize on that.

The Dirty Bird’ rides off durability and that’s been part of the reason for his longevity in the sport. Moreover, he’s a hard guy to keep down should the fight hit the canvas as he has excellent scrambles. Despite his toughness, Mike has clear-cut advantages in the speed department that make all the difference in a firefight.
