VIDEO: Insane Move By Deiveson Figueiredo to Submit Alex Perez by Guillotine Choke at UFC 255

Deiveson Figueiredo retained his flyweight championship with style points to spare as he choked out Alex Perez in the first round. ‘Deus da Guerra’ is clearly a dangerous foe for all 125-pounders, and he’ll be looking to climb the all-time best list. What’s more, the Brazilian made a well-rounded fighter like Alex Perez look like an easy night at the office.

Perez started off with a few leg kicks, but those were his only significant moments of success. Deiveson caught Perez’s leg and strung him along inside the octagon. It didn’t take long for Figueiredo to sink in his patented Guillotine choke and get a quick and easy tap from his opponent.

The flyweight division as it stands has a crop of dangerous contenders who have emerged from the woodwork. Chiefly, this is more impressive considering that the 125-pound division was almost wiped out not too long ago. Furthermore, Figueiredo has several interesting components to his overall persona apart from being a savage in the cage.

He’s been able to garner attention with his swagger, and fans are firmly behind the UFC’s flyweight champion. Additionally, he’s looking down the barrel of a quick turnaround against Brandon Moreno, who also won on the UFC 255 card.

The long-time company boss Dana White is standing behind the idea of having Deiveson defend his belt as early as December. There are certainly interesting things lined up for the 32-year-old.

The stars were out in a massive way and it seems as though Figueiredo’s reign at 125-pounds is here to stay. But, former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo doesn’t see things that way.

Several prominent members in the MMA community had plenty to say about the dominance that ‘Deus de Guerra‘ showed. There’s no doubt that he’ll be a massive star should he continue on his upward trajectory. Moreover, he’s breaking down the stigma that 125-pound fighters are boring.

Demetrious Johnson spearheaded the men’s flyweight division for several years, and he built a powerful legacy. It seems as though with some time and worthy adversaries, Deiveson Figueiredo has the tools to match ‘Mighty Mouse’. Fighters in the flyweight division will certainly take notice of the gold standard in the division.
