Michael Chandler had a successful night on his debut in the UFC at UFC 257 in the Etihad Arena. Following a successful debut against Dan Hooker, Michael Chandler has called out Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Boasting off his striking skills, Michael Chandler landed bombs on Dan Hooker, and in no time the referee had to wave off the contest. Although many favored ‘The Hangman’ to win, Chandler silenced his critics in style. That said, he has set his sight on the headlining superstar ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor alongside the other lightweight elites.

In his maiden UFC post-fight interview, he said, “Conor McGregor, surprise, surprise, there is a new king in the lightweight division. Dustin Poirier, your time has come”

Meanwhile, he also put Khabib Nurmagomedov on his hit list and called the undefeated 155 lbs champion to meet him in the top. While Chander has proved his point, he will wait for the UFC to book him against his next opponent.

Michael Chandler and the lightweight roster

Chandler’s presence and dominant debut will have only intensified the lightweight roster for obvious reasons. Being a long time Bellator champion, Chandler is relevant in the ongoing UFC title picture. So, we can expect him to fight for the world title soon if he maintains this run.

Apart from McGregor and Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje and Charles Oliveira are also racing for the lightweight gold and could be ‘Iron’ Chandler’s next opponents.

Conor McGregor’s fight against Poirier will also impact its outcome, as ‘The Notorious’ might not opt to fight Chandler if he beats ‘The Diamond’. However, a loss can force him to lock horns against Chandler.

Both Chander and McGregor are elite strikers, moreover, Chandler has an upper hand in wrestling, So, he can challenge ‘Notorious for the obvious reasons. It will be an intriguing fight and one of the greatest 155 lbs clashes of a time. But, several factors need to be settled before finalizing the fight.
