UFC middleweight Marc-Andre Barriault and Abu Azaitar are matched up to open out the early preliminary card for UFC 260. Both men are on different career trajectories and a win for Barriault is a must to remain in the company. With multiple losses for Barriault, even a ‘Fight of the Night’ scrap that ends in defeat may not be enough.
The middleweight division is chalked with talented fighters who are vying to catch-up to Israel Adesanya. While Both Azaitar and Barriault have had trouble with USADA, they are exciting names to watch out for. While the scrap will probably deliver a finish for the fans, there’s no meaningful divisional implication attached to the contest.

UFC 260: Marc-Andre Barriault vs Abu Azaitar
Marc-Andre Barriault is coming off a ‘No Contest’ against Oskar Piechota after the result was overturned by NSAC. To make matters worse, the Canadian was on a skid prior to the NC and is fighting for his job. He’s yet to etch a single win in the UFC and drawing Abu Azaitar to make that happen is no mean feat.

‘Power Bar’ Barriault finds success inside the octagon when he puts himself in harm’s way to chase the finish. His recent skid has come due to some tentativeness he’s recently shown and will look to go back to old ways. However, it’s been ill-advised to stand and trade with Abu Azaitar as he usually comes out on top.
Abu Azaitar is undefeated since September 2012 and has racked off 9 straight wins and one draw in the time period. Much like his brother, Ottman Azaitar, Abu is a dynamic finisher with explosive power in his hands. He’s yet to truly get going in the UFC and last competed all the way back in July 2018 against Vitor Miranda.

There are several unknowns surrounding ‘The Gladiator’ as he’s had such a long lay-off from active competition. However, the Moroccan fighter certainly has what it takes to make waves in the middleweight division if he keeps his head down.
