UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko spoke to James Lynch and previewed her upcoming title defense at UFC 261. ‘The Bullet’ puts her gold strap on the line against former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade. ‘Bate Estaca’ has looked like a world-beater since moving up in weight and has dispatched her last opponent in a violent fashion.

Jessica Andrade is coming off a win over former title challenger Katlyn Chookagian back in October 2020. The Brazilian fighter displayed the brute strength that made her well known by winning the fight via crippling body strikes. Fans believe that Andrade brings in a fighting style that has never been put forth to Valentina Shevchenko.

The champion from Kyrgyzstan told Lynch that she expected her own training and work ethic to shine in the fight. Moreover, she dismissed the notion that special attention would have to be given to Jessica Andrade. For Shevchenko, the same attention she gives all her opponents would be applied to her UFC 261 bout.

“I think it’s same as other girls. It’s like an opponent who has a style of fighting, you know, specific things. There is no difference. I’m going to be preparing myself the same way, the same hard work and like doing everything that I have to do to get the victory. Of course, look into like specific details of her, what she can bring, Nothing like super special but you have to be everytime with attention to everything.”

“I expect from Jessica like a lot of wrestling, this is what I hear that she is thinking that she is better in wrestling but you know, I like what she thinks about the things that she’s stronger, it’s showing that she’s not so smart because she is not the stronger person, stronger than me in the wrestling.

“I’m ready for anything. I know she has very strong punch, she’s like hitting hard, but at this level of competition.. all best competition at this level that’s why I’m ready for anything.”
