The UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, defended his belt against Marvin Vettori at UFC 263. As is common with all things Adesanya, ‘The Last Stylebender’ showed his flamboyance with his octagon entry.

He made his walk to the Octagon on Linkin Park’s song ‘Somewhere I Belong’ and wore a Ghosts of Tsushima mask, thus paying tribute to his love for anime. Maybe this song choice was to signify that ‘The Last Stylebender‘ belongs to the middleweight division.

Though Adesanya started the fight well, Vettori landed the early takedown. ‘Stylebender’, though, displayed his improved grappling as he was back up to his feet with relative ease. He started taking over eventually and put on a striking clinic on ‘The Italian Dream’.

Vettori shot in with some desperate takedown attempts, but in the end, he could not slow down the champion anymore. ‘Izzy’ controlled the tempo for most of the fight and earned a dominant unanimous decision in his favor.

Since starting his career in the UFC, ‘Stylebender’ has shown immense activity. This type of busy schedule is not common for every fighter. Even after suffering his first career loss at UFC 259, he returned quickly after a short time. Considering this, one can expect him to make the same sort of return next time too.

Robert Whittaker is probably next in line for the champion. Ever since ‘Izzy’ won the belt after his second-round stoppage win over ‘The Reaper’ at UFC 243, there has been talk of a rematch.
