Conor McGregor is just a few days away from one of the biggest fights of his pro career and he seems to be in good spirits. While there’s no title on the line at UFC 264, some might say the stakes are much higher than a gold belt. After suffering a knockout loss in his last fight, McGregor can’t afford another misstep.
Chiefly, the Irishman hasn’t been the dominant force inside the cage-like he once was, and the rubber match is going to be legacy-defining. If he manages to stop Poirier and win the trilogy, there’s no ceiling on the hype he will generate. Not to mention, McGregor will most likely stroll into a title fight against Charles Oliveira in his next outing.
