Conor McGregor went on Instagram live for the first time the night before when he was flocked by fans. He posted to social media with a caption wishing everyone a ‘Happy Fourth of July’ as fans chanted his name. The post was yet another reminder of the fact that McGregor has transcended stardom within the MMA community.

The Irishman is now a mainstream global sensation and every step he takes makes headlines. In the aforementioned post, a security detail struggled to contain fans who are overwhelmed by seeing him. ‘Conor Mania’ is a real concept and it is on full display during the week.

UFC 264 is right around the corner

Conor McGregor is just a few days away from one of the biggest fights of his pro career and he seems to be in good spirits. While there’s no title on the line at UFC 264, some might say the stakes are much higher than a gold belt. After suffering a knockout loss in his last fight, McGregor can’t afford another misstep.

Chiefly, the Irishman hasn’t been the dominant force inside the cage-like he once was, and the rubber match is going to be legacy-defining. If he manages to stop Poirier and win the trilogy, there’s no ceiling on the hype he will generate. Not to mention, McGregor will most likely stroll into a title fight against Charles Oliveira in his next outing.

One thing is for sure, Conor McGregor is still the biggest star in the sport and there’s no comparison. Fans are already buzzing as fight week is underway and the entire MMA community awaits his presence at the pre-fight press conference. UFC 264 is charting to be one of the biggest events of the year by a long shot.
