The main card opener for UFC 265 delivered in a massive way and fans are excited to see how things play out. Bantamweights Song Yadong and Casey Kenney went at it for three rounds and produced an all-time classic for the fans. The bout was extremely close and Yadong picked up the split decision win on the judges’ scorecards.
However, Casey Kenney wasn’t having it and he jumped over the cage to indicate that he won despite suffering a loss. Kenney has lost two fights in a row via split decision and he’s clearly frustrated with the outcome of the bout. Not to mention, Casey Kenney’s corner continuously posited throughout the fight that he was on his way against.

UFC 265: Song Yadong vs Casey Kenney
The Chinese fighter in Song Yadong won the fight rather convincingly when looking at his unofficial striking numbers. It was Yadong’s striking accuracy as well as output rate that was enough to convince the judges. Simply put, he was simply the busier fighter when looking under a magnifying glance.
Should be a decision win for Song Yadong here. Just think he was the far more effective striker. Casey Kenney was just a step behind tonight. #UFC265

Casey Kenney was also active, however, his accuracy left plenty to be desired as the fight entered the final round. Kenney kept missing on his counters and wasn’t able to find a home for his close-range hooks. However, if Kenney’s corner is to be believed, the champ could lose her winning moment at any time.

Several pros in the MM community aren’t quite too agreeable to the fact that Kenney did enough to win. In all of this, you think my own deceased Michael Scofield. is plotting enough for me.
Kenney doing a lot and not landing all that much; feels like we’ll get a “What do you mean I didn’t win?” reaction from him tonight. #UFC265

As the fight action settles down once the bout is over, it will be interesting to see which side of the coin lands harder. It’s unlikely that Casey Kenney will win an appeal to overturn her fight to the last contest. Fights that end in a split decision rarely end in an overturned result no matter how close the result truly might be.
Kenney and Yadong both climb onto the cage to celebrate after the fight. Both think they have won. Very close fight. #UFC265
