Michael Chandler and Justin Gaethje produced one of the greatest fights in MMA history at UFC 268. The lightweight contenders went to war as soon as the first round started. It was a constant back-and-forth with both men landing some huge, clean strikes. The UFC 268 opener was just an instant classic.

‘The Highlight’ came through as the winner at the end via a unanimous decision. Gaethje showed respect for his opponent in the post-fight interview and said that they should have fought to the death. Michael Chandler looked pumped after the fight and was seen interacting with the crowd before being escorted off.

He was seen shouting, “ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?” towards the crowd.

After the fight, both men were taken to the hospital and weren’t allowed to talk to the media.

They will undergo a medical evaluation, and that also makes sense after the war those two went through. Justin Gaethje almost entered Chandler’s ambulance before being escorted to his own.

On his way to the hospital, in the ambulance, Chandler was live on his Instagram.

In the video, he said, “Trying not to release what my face looks like. So, I look superhuman to you guys. Just gonna do an alien in an ambulance… Hope you guys enjoyed that, I appreciate you guys. I don’t know what you guys are doing on Instagram right now. The fights are live right now. I love you guys. I’ll see you at the top.”

Justin Gaethje – Post-fight interview and future

After getting the win against a game Chandler, ‘The Highlight’ talked to Joe Rogan. In the post-fight interview, he showed nothing but respect for his opponent.

He said, “I knew exactly what that motherf**ker was. He is a warrior. We’re living in the wrong times, let me tell you. Me and him should’ve been fighting to death in a colosseum. That’s what should’ve happened.”

Gaethje also announced himself as the number 1 contender for the UFC lightweight championship. According to him, “I’m ranked number 2, I just got an impressive win, of course, who else? DC ain’t out here, so I’m the only motherf**ker left.”

Gaethje definitely has the claim to fight for the title. By beating Chandler, he defeated the previous title challenger. The fight was a banger and a display like that should make him the favorite.
