VIDEO: Cody Garbrandt Gets Destroyed by Kai Kara-France in the Very First Round in his UFC Flyweight Debut

UFC flyweight Kai Kara-France earned an emphatic knockout over former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt in round one. The City Kickboxing star pulverized Garbrandt with accurate shots that continuously found his chin. ‘No Love’ was rocked from the moment the initial blow landed and every subsequent shot had him in trouble.

Kai Kara-France is known for his accurate punching and lethal speed, which was on full display in this fight. Although Garbrandt was able to survive the first onslaught, the next series of blows kept finding its target. After a flurry of hooks, uppercuts, and straights, Cody Garbrandt collapsed onto the canvas. Hence, referee Herb Dean was forced to step in.

Twitter reacts to Cody Garbrandt’s KO defeat

Interim bantamweight champion Petr Yan took to Twitter and shared his amusement over Cody Garbrandt’s defeat. There’s no love lost between both men as they once even squared off in a backstage altercation. Not to mention, they have gone back and forth several times in the past. Hence, ‘No Mercy’ was clearly happy about Garbrandt’s downfall.

Moreover, Ben Askren also commented on the match-up, saying he felt bad watching fighters get old over time. This is in clear reference to the fact that Garbrandt has been criticized for having a glass chin. He has been dropped and rocked in several fights and has never been the same since losing to T.J Dillashaw twice.

The New Zealand native had plenty to say on the mic when he spoke to Joe Rogan after his win. He was confident in his ability to secure the aforementioned result and also talked about the importance of taking out a former champion. Not to mention, Kai Kara-France made it clear that he’s looking to secure a title shot next.
