The featherweight division of the UFC is starting to get more and more exciting by the minute. Of course, housing some great names like Brian Ortega, Conor McGregor, Jose Aldo, and various others, the division has been overshadowed by the likes of lightweight, welterweight, and heavyweight.

With three title defenses in his belt, Volkanovski expressed his interest in moving up to the lightweight division of the UFC. With two options ahead of Volkanovski, a third one seems to have potentially opened. As we know, Volkanovski, given his skill and dominance in the division, might stay there for a significantly long time.
An undefeated reign with no real challenge can be boring to watch. That being said, Bellator featherweight Patrício Freire called out Alexander Volkanovski during his post-fight interview at Bellator 277.
Talking about potential fights and his dreams to achieve the most in the sport, here is what the three-time featherweight had to say about it.

“If Dana White have some balls, let’s put champion against champion. That’s my goal.” The three-time featherweight champion stated this after his redemption win against A.J. Mckee. They still aren’t known to be a big enough draw for a cross-promotional super fight. Hopefully, the fight sees the light of day in the next few years, given if both fighters reach superstardom in their respective promotions.
