Khabib Nurmagomedov is making waves in the combat sports world even after retiring as a fighter. After successfully launching his own promotion (Eagle FC), the former UFC lightweight champion has begun collaborating with other MMA organizations. ‘The Eagle’ joined hands with Bellator MMA & Scott Coker as rising fighter Islam Mamedov, who is still under contract with Bellator MMA, will compete at Eagle FC 47.

Bellator MMA’s CEO Scott Coker reacted to Bellator Public Relations’ post of the news on their social handles. Team Bellator gave clarification about their fighter and wrote, “Islam Mamedov is still under contract with @BellatorMMA and we are happy to allow him to take a fight with @EagleFightClub.”

“Collaboration,” wrote Coker on joining hands with Eagle FC. Coker has previously worked with other MMA promotions and conducted smooth operations. Chiefly, with their trade with Rizin.

Islam Mamedov will fight at Eagle FC 47 against Ukrainian fighter Yosdenis Cedeno.

Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s manager Ali Abdelaziz expressed his gratitude towards the promotion’s decision to let their fighter compete on another platform. He tweeted, “Thank you so much brother, thank for allowing Islam fight at EagleFC “

This would be a very interesting scenario if this relationship has more layers to it, as Nurmagomedov is still under contract with the UFC as a fighter. However, he is free to promote his promotion, Eagle FC, which is making its mark in the United States.
