Conor McGregor Gets Nostalgic Watching His Amateur MMA Debut

13 years ago, on 17 February 2007, Conor McGregor made his debut in the world of MMA. His first fight in amateur MMA took place in Dublin, Ireland for the promotion of the Irish Ring of Truth. He faced Kieran Campbell in his first-ever fight and dominated the ring.
As soon as the match started, the 19-year-old McGregor asserted his prowess over his opponent. Within just two minutes of the fight, McGregor was able to carry out a series of swift strikes to the head of Campbell, rendering him incapable of retaliating.
The referee called a halt to the fight, declaring Conor McGregor the winner. The young McGregor jumped around the ring after winning, displaying immense excitement and happiness. Little did that kid from Ireland know he was going to take the world by storm.

McGregor recalled his debut fight in the MMA and the significance it holds in his life. He wrote on Twitter that the fact that his first victory in MMA was against a Campbell. He said that McGregors and Campbells had a long-standing feud with each other outside the world of boxing.
Thus, when he won the fight, he knew that MMA was the correct path for him. he wrote “The McGregors have been fighting the Campbells since the highlands. Sworn enemies at a time. Nothing at this time. It showed me that the path I was on, was correct.”

What’s Next for “The Notorious” Conor McGregor?
Conor recently returned to the fighting scene at UFC 246 where he faced “Cowboy” Donald Cerrone. In a landmark victory, he won the fight in 40 seconds of the first round, putting down one of the greatest fighters of the UFC. The renewed energy with which Mcgregor made his comeback showed a glimpse of the debutant Mcgregor. The only difference is he comes packed with much more superior skills.

UFC President Dana White confirmed that McGregor will now wait for a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov. After all, Conor’s last appearance before his long break was at UFC 229, where he lost to Khabib. He will look to exact revenge and is persevering for the same.
