Originally, Gaethje was offered to fight Dan Hooker in Auckland. But, as per Dan Hooker, Gaethje turned down the fight because it wasn’t a big fight for him. Gaethje was pushing for the Conor fight. Since he did not get it, he decided to wait out for a title shot instead.

Dan Hooker vs Justin Gaethje next?

“I got my eye on someone,” Hooker said. “I want the battle of the highlight reel, I want Justin Gaethje next. Let’s go.”

Gaethje is currently ranked #4 in the division with a 3 fight win streak. He is known for his brutal power which can knock anyone out. “The Highlight” is coming off a victory over Donald Cerrone and wants to fight no one other than the champion or a big name like McGregor.

A win over Justin Gaethje will put Dan Hooker in the title contention. However, if Gaethje wins, the victory will solidify him as the next contender for the title. It may even fast track his way to the title shot since Dana White has shown more interest in booking Khabib vs Conor rematch if Khabib beats Tony.

Should Gaethje choose to fight Hooker and lose, it may jeopardise his title shot. But a fight between the two will be an absolute war.
