Jon Jones
In one of the most controversial decisions in the UFC, Jon Jones (26-1-0, 1NC) defeated Dominick Reyes (12-1) in the main event of UFC 247. It was a back and forth battle with neither of the two willing to back down.
After failing to establish dominance in the early rounds, Jones probably had the toughest fight of his career against Dominick Reyes. However, he made a stellar comeback in the second half of the fight. At the end, Jones defeated Reyes by a unanimous decision to retain the light heavyweight strap.
The fight divided the MMA community into two. Some believe that Jones was outstruck by Reyes for three rounds straight and Reyes should be the new light heavyweight champion. Many fans refer to Reyes as the “People’s Champ.” The other half believes that Jones did enough to win the fight in the championship rounds.

Dominic out struck me by literally 12 shots. I scored the take downs, was the aggressor, control the octagon every round, had more significant strikes landed.. Dom completely stopped fighting in the championship rounds and has the audacity to be mad at the judges. 😩🤷🏾♂️

Don’t be mad at the judges, be mad at Dom’s conditioning guy. man started to give up when the water got deep and is now going around doing interviews talking about being robbed. When will these young boys start taking responsibility 🤷🏾♂️ that’s what’s wrong with boys these days.

I don’t think people realize how many ways this has been a blessing for me. Humbling, record-breaking, financially, a new rival, got to bring out the dog. #UFC247 is what it’s all about 💪🏾

When a asked Jones to set the record straight with Reyes in a rematch, Jones replied with the following tweet:
Someone tell uncle Dana to give me a call https://t.co/kSOx5PgI3h

It seems like Jones is willing to grant Dominick Reyes a rematch for the light heavyweight championship. Whether that happens or not is up to the promoter and the matchmakers. If Jones Vs Reyes 2 does happen, it will be bigger than their first fight.
Jones will have to make the necessary improvements in his game to deal with Reyes effectively. However, It should not be a problem for Jones as he has 25 minutes of experience with Reyes and tends to perform better in a rematch.
Should Jones rematch Reyes? Or should he explore other options? Maybe a move to heavyweight to cement his legacy?
