Although Corey Anderson is not known for his striking, he has destroyed Johnny Walker in his last fight. Walking into the fight, Walker was considered as the superior striker by many. However, Anderson was able to hurt Walker early. He landed multiple devastating blows before the referee stopped the fight. This shows that Anderson’s striking has improved over time.

When you compare both fighters’ significant striking accuracy Jan Blachowicz leads with 49%. Whereas Corey Anderson has a significant striking accuracy of 46%. It has to be noted that Blachowicz has almost twice the number of fights then Anderson. The Polish fighter has an advantage in the striking aspect of the game.

Grappling And Wrestling

Corey Anderson is one of the most dominant wrestlers in the light heavyweight division. Many of his opponents were unable to keep up with his relentless pace. On paper, Jan Blachowicz has a takedown accuracy of 52% and Anderson has 50%. However, Anderson has a takedown average (landed per 15 mins) of 4.98 whereas Blachowicz has a takedown average of 1.18.

Although Blachowicz is more accurate with the takedowns, Anderson continuously attempts to take his opponents down. He does not stop until he gets his opponents to the ground. His superior cardio allows him to wrestle persistently. However, Anderson does not have a single submission win on his pro record. On the other hand, Blachowicz has one submission victory on his record.

Jan Blachowicz is a dangerous fighter on the feet. Corey Anderson cannot afford to stand and trade with the Polish fighter. Like their first fight, Anderson must close the distance on Blachowicz and take him down. Blachowicz has a takedown defence of 65% and many of his losses came when he got taken down and held to the mat.

Anderson’s pressure heavy wrestling will be effective against his opponent. But, Blachowicz is far more technical in striking than Anderson. He can catch Anderson on his way in. However, Anderson’s striking has improved over the years and it will be enough to avoid the power shots from Blachowicz. Eventually, the pressure from Anderson will be too much to handle for Blachowicz.

The fight will be closer than their first one but Corey Anderson is likely to win it.
