Predictions and analysis for UFC on ESPN 12:

‘The Diamond’ Dustin Poirier will look to get back to winning ways after suffering a loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in his previous fight. Poirier was on a 5 fight win streak before his defeat, and last won against Max Holloway in April 2019. In contrast, Hooker has had a steady rise to the top, with ‘The Hangman’ currently ranked no. 5 in the lightweight rankings. He has amassed a record of (20-8) and is on a 3 fight win streak. Moreover, he defeated Paul Felder in his last fight, winning via split decision.

But Poirier’s skill set and experience in the division might prove too much for Hooker. Despite Hooker’s impressive performances, it’s unlikely he’ll be able to defeat Poirier.

Dustin Poirier is arguably the better striker and has a very solid ground game as well  . This fight might go the distance, as both men are known for being very tough to crack.

Prediction: Dustin Poirier defeats Dan Hooker via decision

As the fighters partook in a war of words during the build-up to the fight, both men will look to settle their differences in the octagon. Mike Perry could cause a lot of problems for Mickey Gall, as he’s considered as the better striker. Moreover, Perry’s takedown defense could stop Gall from executing his game plan. On the other hand, Gall will look to take down Perry during the fight, with his trademark chokes a potential threat for Mike Perry.

However, If Perry can stop the takedowns early on in the fight and connect with solid shots, he can end the fight in the early rounds.

Prediction- Mike Perry knocks out Mickey Gall in round 2

Gian Villante is set to make his heavyweight debut against the ‘Crochet Boss’, Maurice Greene. Villante has struggled for form in the light heavyweight division and is coming off a disappointing loss against  Michał Oleksiejczuk. Similarly, Greene is on a 2 fight losing streak, suffering defeats to Aleksei Oleinik and Sergei Pavlovich.

However, Greene has a massive reach advantage over Villante. If Maurice can maintain his range and take the fight to the ground, he can certainly snatch the victory from Villante.

Prediction- Maurice Greene defeats Gian Villante via decision

Kyle Daukaus is set to make his UFC debut against an in-form Brendan Allen. Allen is heading into this fight as the clear favorite, and will look to continue his hot run of form against the debutant. Both fighters will look to take the fight to the ground early, with chokes a big part of their game plan. However, Allen’s skill set and experience might cause Daukaus a lot of problems, and he will look to finish the fight in the early rounds.

Prediction-Brendan Allen defeats Kyle Daukaus via submission in round 2

Philipe Lins and Tanner Boser will face off in a heavyweight bout, in what is considered an even match up. Lins will look to make use of his jiu-jitsu and take Boser to the ground. Also, Philipe Lins is known for being a powerful striker and can cause Boser problems early on in the fight. Moreover, Boser will look to push the fight towards the later rounds, in hopes of tiring Lins out. However, his lack of power might be a serious disadvantage against Philipe Lins.

Prediction- Philipe Lins defeats Tanner Boser in round 2

Julian Erosa accepted the fight against Sean Woodson on short notice after Kyle Nelson pulled out of the fight. This might prove to be a serious disadvantage for the former, especially against the undefeated Woodson. Erosa is (1-4) in the UFC and has suffered multiple knockout defeats in the promotion. Also, Sean Woodson has a clear striking advantage and should be able to finish Erosa in the early rounds.
