UFC heavyweight, Tom Aspinall, utilized his main card appearance at UFC Vegas 19 with a submission victory. The Englishman became only the second man to submit Andrei Arlovski under the bright lights of the octagon. The first man to do so was Josh Barnett, who snagged a submission over ‘The Pitbull’ back in 2016.

The end came at 01:09 via RNC choke and has now pushed Tom Aspinall to an overall 10-2 record in MMA. Arlovski has served as a great litmus test for upstart fighters, and Aspinall came out with flying colors. He’ll join the shortlist to head through 2021 as a highly-touted prospect on a three-fight win streak.

The fight played out at range similar to many fights that involve the grizzly veteran in Andrei Arlovski. The former world champion has a way of making fighters look rather unimpressive, however, Aspinall defied that trend. It’s back to the drawing board for Arlovski, who was formerly on a two-fight win streak heading into the contest.

Tom Aspinall makes a massive call-out

The 27-year-old in Aspinall spoke to Michael Bisping after his emphatic win and made a clear-cut call-out. He made sure to make use of his air time to call out the winner of another heavyweight match-up placed on the main card. However, it wasn’t the main event winner that he wanted; Aspinall called out the winner of Oleinik vs Daukaus.

“I would like to fight, there’s three other heavyweight fights on this card and obviously the main event guys, Derrick Lewis and Curtis Blaydes are way above me so I don’t want them. But any of the other guys, just give me the winners. That’s all I want.”

Facing the winner of Aleksei Oleinik vs Chris Daukaus makes sense for Aspinall, as it will provide another potential showcase opportunity. Tom Aspinall is one of the few names besides Cyril Gane who has truly captured fan attention.

Moreover, he’s got a clear-cut mix of skills in the cage and charisma in the mic to make a UFC title run. Following his most recent win, fans and pundits will have their eyes peeled towards his next booking.
