UFC welterweights Kenan Song and Max Griffin will go to war on the main card for UFC Fight Night. The card is headlined by Derek Brunson vs Kevin Holland, which is a bout that has been on the fans’ radar. The winner of Song vs Griffin will look to use the main card exposure to rack up a contention spot.
Chiefly, the 170-pound division is quite happening at the moment with several marquee match-ups lined up for the year. The division is rather top-heavy at the moment, and there’s a desire to see some fresh faces break out. Moreover, with the influx of new talent being able to make it big as of late, it only takes one spectacular finish sometimes.

UFC welterweights: Kenan Song vs Max Griffin
‘The Assassin’ Song is 4-1 in the UFC, and he’s riding a two-fight winning streak as it currently stands. He’s coming off a lay-off that spans just over a year, and this has been the story of his UFC run to date. If he is to break into the top ranks, Kenan Song will have to redirect his focus towards competing more frequently.

Song exclusively keeps the fight on the feet and is split down the middle with his striking accuracy. The orthodox fighter out of China hasn’t shown a meaningful offense in his wrestling and this is a cause for concern.
Max Griffin is 2-4 in his last six outings, and he’s definitely had his fair share of bumps along the road so far. Max ‘Pain’ has fought some extremely high-level talent, and it’s shown in his maturity and experience inside the cage. Colby Covington, Alex Oliveira, and Mike Perry are just some names he’s scrapped against. Griffin comes in as a definite step-up in competition for Song.

Griffin’s output of 4.08 significant strikes per minute ensures that he’s keeping busy in the eyes of the judges. Not to mention, he’s quite generous when it comes to throwing leg kicks, making him hard to defeat on the scorecards. However, he’s also able to turn on the pace (which may prove effective against an opponent who has been out for a while) and his power should be respected
Prediction: Max Griffin to claim a unanimous decision victory
