UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs Oleinik is underway from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Following two decision wins and a submission, fans got treated to knockout in the first round of the fourth preliminary card fight. This came in the middleweight contest between unranked fighters Andrew Sanchez and Wellington Turman.
‘El Dirte’ played a tactical game since the start of the match, thus controlling Turman from the get-go. Once the fighters broke away, the striking began. As time ticked away in round one, Turman connected with a leg kick before landing a combination right to the body. He moved in again and connected with an insane kick to Sanchez’s right.
Sanchez seemed unfazed by the kick and waited for an opening. He landed a straight right, before unleashing a one-two combination to send his opponent to the ground. As he swooped in to finish, he landed two more punches before Herb Dean waved the fight off.
This was Sanchez’s 12th career win and sixth by knockout. Moreover, it marked his first finish in the opening five minutes in over six years.
Turman, unfortunately, wasn’t able to build on his win against Markus Perez last year. ‘The Prodigy’ suffered his first knockout as a professional competitor in twenty completed fights.
The 32-year-old’s triumph should ensure he has momentum heading into the end of the year where he will look to fight again. This is because he did not sustain a lot of damage and will look to make the most of possibly no medical suspension.

Meanwhile, 24-year-old Turman has time left to turn around from a maiden career knockout. Having absorbed a fight-ending blow, he knows what he must do to avoid going through the same again.
What did you make of Andrew Sanchez’s beautiful one-two combination to finish Wellington Turman at UFC Fight Night Lewis vs Oleinik?
