UFC Fight Night: Figueiredo vs Benavidez 2 is underway from the Flash Forum on Fight Island from Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The main card is on right now and fans got to witness a brutal submission win in the 2nd fight on the night. Here, in a women’s Flyweight bout, Ariane Lipski took on Luana Carolina. The former had a reputation for finishing fights in the first round.
She had never done so in the UFC with all 3 fights in the company going the distance. However, she ended that run to register her first UFC finish by tapping out Luana Carolina.
The fight began at a brisk pace. The first interaction came within seconds as the fighters traded punches. Just seconds later, Lipski caught Carolina with a mean left punch and sent her to the floor. Following this, she quickly applied the pressure by dropping to her knees and attempting body shots. However, ‘Dread’ caught hold of her head to ensure that her opponent did not have room to strike.
Lipski broke free from the feeble body triangle attempt and caught hold of her opponent’s legs. Here she maneuvered into position and managed to wrestle Carolina’s leg into position for a kneebar. As ‘Queen of Violence’ extended the leg and bent it, ‘Dread’s screams of agony echoed as she desperately submitted just 88 seconds into the fight.
The defeat was the first time ‘Dread’ had lost since her debut in 2015. She came into the Flash Forum riding on a 6 fight win streak, which included unanimous decision wins over Mabelly Lima and Priscila Cachoeira.
Following the fight, she writhed in pain and grimaced as she lay on the canvas. The submission was so vicious that it rendered ‘Dread’ Unable to make it to her feet even for the post-fight formalities. She remained seated on a stool in her corner as the referee raised Ariane Lipski’s hand in victory.
What did you make of Ariane Lipski’s lightning-quick and brutal kneebar submission which helped her go 2-2 in the UFC?
