

UFC Light Heavyweight Jordan Wright secured a massive TKO doctor stoppage win over Ike Villanueva in the first round. Both men were eager to get a big win in the promotion and gain some traction in the 205-pound division.
A vicious knee off the break opened up a gnarly cut over Villanueva’s eye causing an interruption in the action. The strike came in with great momentum and had the 17-11 fighter visibly shaken as it landed flush. The portion beneath the eyebrow was scaled off and it was clear that continuing the bout was detrimental. Moreover, his second straight loss by TKO will mean Villanueva will have to head back to the drawing board.

The 205-pound division is wide open for the taking after Jon Jones vacated the belt to chase a legacy at heavyweight. Moreover, top contenders Jan Blachowicz and Dominick Reyes will contest for the vacant strap on September 26.
