The buoyed fighter made a surprising challenge after Joe Martinez read out the official result. He said, “Jorge Masvidal, be ready!”

Demolidor‘ echoed the sentiment whilst talking to Jon Anik immediately after the fight. He challenged the welterweight contender and current BMF champion who sits in the upper echelons of the division.

Pereira said, “Dana White, Sean Shelby. I want the BMF belt. Jorge Masvidal be ready. You are next.”

The call-out seems farfetched as Dana White previously indicated that the symbolic belt was a one-off. However, in the last few days, there is a buzz that ‘Gamebred’ will defend his belt against Nate Diaz in a UFC 244 rematch.

Pereira could compete for the title somewhere down the line, but he isn’t ranked yet and will need a slew of dominant performances to collide with the UFC’s welterweight elite.

The Brazilian fighter was on course for a decision win. However, he elected to take the fight to the ground and applied a rear-naked choke. Given the one-sided nature of the fight, referee Chris Tognoni ended the contest just seconds later.

The Russian fighter seemed unhappy with replays suggesting that his annoyance wasn’t for the sake of it. Later, as fans took a second look at the fight-ending sequence, they could make the argument that Imadaev tried to prise his opponent’s hands away. However, it got misinterpreted as a tap.

One cannot regard the fight result as daylight robbery as it ended just a few seconds earlier with the dominant fighter claiming the win.
