UFC welterweights Matt Brown and Dhiego Lima are tasked with the main card opening slot for UFC Vegas 29. Both men bring forth the pressure and are expected to deliver a war for UFC fans right off the bat. Brown has gone on record to say that he expects a bloodbath against Lima when they meet in the middle.
Neither man is near welterweight title contention currently, however, a victory will be a paramount step in the right direction. Moreover, a possibility to earn a ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus check is something that both men will have their eyes on. However, looking at the electric main event, Brown vs Lima will certainly have some tough competition.

UFC Vegas 29: Matt Brown vs Dhiego Lima
‘The Immortal’ is on a two-fight skid and was beaten by welterweight icon Carlos Condit in his last outing. Overall, Matt Brown hasn’t been able to remain consistent and has suffered several setbacks in recent years. Dhiego Lima is a good litmus test to see if Brown has what it takes to compete at the highest level.

Brown moves forward with a tight guard and has a varied arsenal of kicks and close-range boxing. He has dangerous elbows in the clinch and has been able to overpower several durable welterweights with his accuracy. Lima will have to be cautious when venturing into close range, as he’s susceptible to being countered.
‘The Immortal’: Rise from the ashes
Dhiego Lima lost his last fight to Belal Muhammad via unanimous decision and ended up slashing a 3 fight win streak. The Brazilian started his UFC run with two straight losses, however, he’s since managed to reign things back. Despite going down to ‘Remember The Name’, he put on a good show and will want to get back to winning ways.

Lima’s ability to check kicks and counter over the top will serve him well against Matt Brown. He’ll be looking to cut against the cage and generate angles to make sure he doesn’t play into Brown’s range of offense. The fight is expected to stay on the feet and produce highlights right from the first bell.
