When Conor McGregor Subtly Roasted “Golf GOAT” Tiger Woods Amidst His Controversial Arrest in 2017

UFC superstar Conor McGregor was on cloud nine after winning the first-ever UFC card at the MSG. Not only did he win the UFC lightweight championship in one of the most dominant performances in a championship fight, but also he became the first-ever simultaneous dual weight champion in the promotion’s history. In addition, he had a future booking with the boxing legend and undefeated, Floyd Mayweather.
Thus, with all the success, McGregor, who was known for his brash talk with the UFC fighters, had taken a step further and put the golf legend Tiger Woods under the bus.

On June 4, 2017, McGregor took a shot at the 15-time major winner.
McGregor posted a picture of his shoe and socks, both of which had a tiger printed on them. Subsequently, ‘The Notorious’ played with the words and wrote, “A lion would never act the bollox. But a tiger wood.”

This came after Woods got into trouble with the law a week prior in Jupiter, Florida.
However, the reason for ‘The Notorious’ taking a dig at the golf legend stayed a mystery. As far as the speculations go, it could be because of Conor McGregor’s association with the golfer, Rory McIlroy.

McIlroy and McGregor had shared some time at the UFC 202 after-party after the Irish superstar had avenged his sole loss in the UFC against a bitter rival, Nate Diaz.

Recently, Tiger Woods made his comeback to the golf course after battling gruesome injuries, courtesy of a car crash. ‘The Notorious’ was there to congratulate Woods as he also took inspiration, for his own comeback, from the golf legend’s performance.
