While the UFC universe eagerly awaits an announcement for the showdown between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov, Joe Rogan has warned Dana White to put his plans for any such announcement on hold.
While both the fighters are undoubtedly the most ferocious fighters of the UFC, one minor detail might cause a setback to this match-up. Khabib Nurmagomedov has yet to beat the number one fighter in the Lightweight division, Tony Ferguson.

Joe Rogan‘s comment comes with nine weeks to go before Ferguson and Khabib battle it out at UFC 249. The result of the fight might just decide who the greatest Lightweight Fighter of all time is.
Anyone can win between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov
“Tony is the boogeyman. That nickname, ‘El Cucuy’, that’s the perfect nickname for that guy, he is terrifying. He never gets tired, everybody who fights him looks like they fell off a train, it’s crazy. I think Khabib vs. Tony is the toughest fight of Khabib’s career. I think Tony Ferguson is the scariest guy for anybody at 155 pounds to fight. He doesn’t get tired and has fucking bricks for hands. I had Josh Thomson in here the other day and he was saying that when Tony Ferguson grabs him, you can’t believe how big his hands are”, Rogan said on his podcast.
“He’s a spooky dude. There’s something about him, like, he ain’t normal. He’s not a normal guy. He’s eccentric but in the good way, especially when it comes to being a fighter,” Rogan continued. “The two of them together, it’s an epic fight. But I would not be making any plans if I was Dana or if I was anybody else. I would not be making any plans, because Khabib can win that fight, but it’s not guaranteed. Ferguson can win that fight, too.”

The fact that Rogan’s claims are backed by a coveted fighter and analyst like Josh Thomson provides a huge amount of credibility to them. While Khabib has remained unbeaten, maybe it requires The Boogeyman to set the score straight. Ferguson has managed to leave every opponent of his in a daze for quite some time now, either with his insane strikes, ground and pound or incredible submissions. And the guy just doesn’t get tired. Has The Eagle finally met his match? Will The Boogeyman really clip The Eagle’s wings. The possibilities are tied. Either way, Conor will most definitely be facing perhaps the most brutal opponent he’s ever faced in the times to come.
