Valentina Shevchenko is one of the most well-rounded female athletes in the world. She has brutally dominated most of her opponents. Her striking skills are on par with some of the best strikers in the world. Besides striking, she can also finish her opponents on the ground if needed.

Her achievements inside and outside the octagon gave rise to many conspiracy theories. One of them stating that Valentina Shevchenko might be a spy. Among all the people who called her a spy, one such individual was retired mixed martial artist Ben Askren.

In an interview with Dave Schmulenson before UFC 246, retired mixed martial artist Ben Askren said: “She speaks multiple languages, she’s a weapons expert, she flies planes, come on man, shes a Russian asset, isn’t she?

Valentina Shevchenko Reveals The Motivation Behind Her Multiple Talents

Shevchenko has finally responded to Askren‘s claims at UFC 247 Media Day. She said, “I am not a spy” and referred to James Bond as her inspiration.

“James Bond is a universal person who can do anything. Like I said yesterday, driving car, driving plane, sailboat, like doing anything. Shoot from whatever arm he wants. This is my kind of motivation in life to be a kind of similar person. To know more, to learn, to get different knowledge is what inspired me a lot and that’s why I keep my lifestyle, what I have right now the same way.”

Spy or not, Valentina Shevchenko is a monster inside the octagon. She is set to defend her UFC flyweight championship against Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 247 In the co-main event. Many fans believe that Valentina will dominate her opponent as they believe that Valentina is too well rounded and technical for Chookagian.
