However, one small incident left the MMA community shocked when a few derogatory comments about Conor and his girlfriend, Dee Devlin were tweeted from Kamaru Usman’s account. Usman’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz later clarified that Usman’s tweeter account was hacked. But many fans and Conor McGregor believed that it was Abdelaziz who made those remarks about Conor.
But, why Kamaru Usman or his team would even do a stunt like that on the day of Conor vs Cowboy? Leading into the fight Conor Mcgregor had his eyes on two fights in the welterweight division. Those were the BMF title fight with Jorge Masvidal and the welterweight title fight against Kamaru Usman. But the fans including Conor seemed more intrigued by the fight against Masvidal compared to the fight against Usman.

So some of the fans speculated that Abdelaziz who has access to many of his fighters’ social media accounts made those comments to generate some hype for the Usman vs Conor fight. And it is needless to say that Conor and Ali do not like each other ever since the Khabib vs Conor fight at UFC 229.

However, Kamaru Usman puts all the speculations to rest, addressing the incident on the JRE podcast. Even Joe Rogan was suspicious that Abdelaziz pulled off that stunt on the fight day. But Usman recalled the incident quite differently.

“I get on my phone, I tried to go into my twitter. I can’t. I am locked out. So someone has got in and changed the password and the email. So I can’t even get into my twitter.”
Usman explained that the person who got into his account not only insulted Conor and Devlin but also passed derogatory remarks about Mike Tyson. The hacker got into Usman’s bank account and shared a screenshot of its details. He was also disappointed that his fans and Conor blamed his manager for all the chaos surrounding the tweets.

“It was unfair to my manager for the people to say that. And then Conor said something about it too, which is very low. I understand that the comments that were tweeted out were very very disrespectful. First of all, that’s not me. I don’t even talk like that. As much as I want to beat him up, if Conor wants to fight we can fight. But there are lines that you do not cross. I would never say anything about someone’s family, wife or children. And Ali is a guy who would never say that no matter how much he hates Conor.”
