After trying his luck in the heavyweight and the light heavyweight division, Jared Cannonier seems to have found a home in the middleweight division. The American is known to for the tremendous power in his shots. After all, he stopped Anderson Silva with leg kicks in the very first round. In his last fight, he viciously ended Jack Hermansson’s 4 fight win streak.
Originally, Cannonier was scheduled to fight Robert Whittaker at UFC 248. However, the fight fell through after Whittaker pulled out due to “undisclosed personal reasons”. There were speculations about Darren Till stepping in as a potential replacement but as of now, nothing has been finalised.
Should there be any mishap at UFC 248, Jared Cannonier is set up as a potential replacement.

Jared Cannonier on Fighting Darren Till
Talking to the media at UFC 247, Cannonier gave an update on his training. Cannonier claimed that he is working hard and improving himself. He said that he is not training for any specific opponent.
Cannonier had a few words for Darren Till. Till was supposed to step in as a replacement for Robert Whittaker but pulled out of the fight due to an ankle injury. It was later revealed that Darren Till had some contract issues with the UFC.

Reacting to Till’s contract issues Cannonier said: ” He wants to get paid more and we know how that goes.”

“He should be getting paid. He’s fighting top five guys in the middleweight division. He fought for the title, he should be getting paid. That’s just it”
The winner of Cannonier Vs Darren Till would have likely been next in line for a title shot. But due to Till’s negotiation tactics, it may not happen.
Responding to Till’s business tactics, Cannonier said: “I am absolutely fine with him handling his business. Because at the end of the day, I’m not gonna take care of his bills and he has his daughter to take care of, he’s got a family to deal with.”

As Israel Adesanya said, Jared Cannonier is the dark horse of the middleweight division. He will likely be the number one contender if he continues to win. Cannonier needs one big win to put him on the map.
