The BMF, Jorge Masvidal will get a much-deserved title shot against Kamaru Usman. After baptizing Ben Askren, and Darren Till, and destroying Nate Diaz, Masvidal will look to claim the UFC title for the first time in his career.

However, this fight did not come to fruition easily. Although according to ranking Usman and Masvidalw are supposed to fight each other. The comeback of Conor McGregor into the welterweight division made both Usman and Masvidal hopeful for a showdown with Conor.

But Conor is leaning towards the fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov and that leaves the door open for the welterweight title fight between Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman. But according to Masvidal, Usman does not want to fight him.

Kamaru Usman was calling a few names out before the fight with Masvidal was made official. Usman wanted to fight Leon Edwards who is a worthy contender but is below Masvidal when it comes to rankings. Usman also wished to fight George St Pierre next. Bringing all that up, Masvidal claimed that Usman would fight anyone but him.

“You would think any champion would want to fight the ‘Fighter of the Year’ in their weight class to extra prove something, to set themselves aside. This guy wants to fight a guy under me that he already beat, or if not, do fantasy matchups, the guys in Japan or other organizations. If that doesn’t let you know what’s going to happen, nothing will. He knows the formula. He knows about me very well. So, there’s a hundred other people he’d rather fight than me.”

“Like, stop, man. Everybody’s laughing at you thinking you’re a f****g idiot. No one’s going to fight, dude. You’ve got five security guards with you, I’ve got five security guards with me, there’s a barricade. Stop. But that’s who he is. I think he’s got to sell a lot of himself for people to engage with him because it’s not working.”

Fortunately, these two welterweight elites won’t have to wait long to settle their rivalry as Dana White has already said that Usman will defend his title next against Masvidal.
