MMA fighters are very vocal about their paychecks in the UFC. This is a given, since the art of putting on a show by each fighter is getting better by the day. UFC 270 was a defining moment for Deiveson Figueiredo since his win over Brandon Moreno marked him reclaiming his belt from a favorite.

The Brazilian earned a reported payout of 150k dollars for the UFC 270 event. Post the third Moreno fight, the UFC has now booked a fourth and possibly final fight to break the tie between them both. Now that the fourth fight has been booked, Figueiredo has something to say to Dana White.

Being paid as low as 150K for being a champion is something that might not sit well with individuals within the fight community. That being said, Figueiredo has reportedly asked Dana White to pay him a million dollars for his next UFC fight. In an interview with MMA hour, this is what the Brazilian champ stated.

Is Figueiredo stating what he’s worth?

I think about Kai Kara-France [next]. I have the price for the fourth [Moreno] fight. If UFC wants the fourth fight, I want to ask the price because if the UFC wants to do something historic, let’s go pay historic money for the flyweight division. Whoever pays better for me, this is the guy I’m gonna fight.

He continued, “One million dollars, I like one million dollars. More money, more pay-per-view, and the more money I make, the more gold I’m gonna buy,’ he continued. ‘You know Iron Man? You’re gonna see the ‘Gold Man.

Deiveson Figueiredo wants to make pay history for flyweights

Being paid the least out of all the male divisions of the UFC, Figueiredo wants to make pay history. He wants the big bucks to make history for the first time, paving the way for future flyweights.

This might actually be a smart move on Figueiredo’s part, since Moreno’s gargantuan following in Mexico can play a huge part in facilitating high sales for the fight. Moreover, this fight is a tiebreaker and hence holds a lot of value for both parties on the line.

All things said, it wouldn’t matter if the UFC president does not adhere to the demand. After all, the management makes the final call, and that’s based on how much they think the fighter is worth to the company. We love seeing fighters getting paid their worth, but this one ultimately tilts towards management.
