Michael Chandler issues a long-due ultimatum

The rivalry between Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor is rather fresh, having started on the pretexts of TUF 31 when both adversaries faced each other as coaches. They were the representatives of their teams, and it was stated that McGregor and Chandler would fight at the end of the season to continue the tradition. This sparked rumors about their comeback. However, the end of the year is near, and we have yet to receive any confirmation on their fight.

In his latest escapade the “Iron Mike” was interviewed by ESPN MMA YouTube handle. The host asked Chandler about his intentions regarding his return and do he had any dates for Dana White & co. Chandler said “I’ve thought about this but no, I don’t have a personal, you know, hard date. you know, when we get into the first of the year. if we don’t get some things moving, you know, really, obviously, we gotta really start hard-press, if you will, full-court press”

Chandler later adds that he is enjoying the hustle- “But right now, I’m enjoying it, obviously, you know, UFC 300 is still, what, four or five months away.” He also noted that his answer might change depending on the circumstances and the host might check on him this coming January for better clarification- “We’re enjoying the time right now. But no personal deadline. But check back with me in January, and I might be singing a different tune.”

Chandler is certainly growing increasingly frustrated as McGregor remains inactive, showing no signs of making a move. With Dana White preoccupied with upcoming UFC events, Chandler solely focuses on the announcement of the McGregor vs. Chandler fight. The lack of progress in this regard adds to Chandler’s frustration, making the wait even more agonizing.

Chandler is skeptical about McGregor’s return but will wait

While having a conversation with MMA Junkie Radio, Michael Chandler stated that he is skeptical about McGregor returning to UFC 300. He even cited that no one in the combat community is waiting for the fight announcement more than him “Nobody wants a fight announcement more than me,” said Chandler

Chandler explained “I’m solely focused on McGregor.I was merely saying that I believe it’s smoke and mirrors, and I don’t think they have any intention of waiting until July. I’ve been asked numerous times, ‘What’s the hard date that you say, ‘Hey, when I get to this date, I’m calling up Hunter (Campbell), I’m calling up Dana (White), and I’m going to say screw Conor, I want to fight somebody else?’ I don’t have that date in mind.”
