Former UFC welterweight title challenger Dan Hardy spoke to Submission Radio about his potential return to combat sports. Hardy has been out of the fight game as a combatant for a meaningful period of time and has turned towards commentary and analysis. He last fought back in 2012 against Amir Sadollah and left the sport of MMA on two straight wins.

While Hardy has been successful in his bid as a commentator, he has expressed a clear itch to make a comeback. While speaking to Submission Radio, he revealed that former UFC fighter Diego Sanchez called him out for a scrap. Dan Hardy detailed the call-out and clearly stipulated that he would accept the fight if it made sense.

“I like Diego, I feel kind of sorry for him. Like if he was in the gym, I’d pull my punches, but he called me out on DM. Then he contacted the bare-knuckle guys and they’ve contacted me saying ‘Hey, Diego wants to fight you ‘

“That’s like slapping someone in the face with a glove in medieval times England. If I see him in the street, I’m having words with him. So, that’s a one-off. I’ll sign that contract right now and fight Diego at whatever weight he wants to do. I’m not bothered, I’m below 200 pounds. I’m starting to move towards fight shape.”

It’s clear as day that Hardy has taken exception to the way that Diego Sanchez has gone about his call-out. While there doesn’t seem to be any overwhelming animosity, things could certainly get heated in the lead-up.
