Michael Chandler Rivalry With the Pitbull Brothers of Bellator MMA

Former Bellator MMA lightweight champion Michael Chandler returns to action at UFC 262 as he fights Charles Oliveira with the UFC lightweight title on the line. Chandler made a successful promotional debut, defeating Dan Hooker by first-round knockout.

The fight against ‘Do Bronx’ is the most important in Chandler’s illustrious professional career. ‘Iron’ looks to become the undisputed no.1 lightweight on the planet. However, he has been through some very high-profile fights in his career. His rivalry against Patricky and Patricio Pitbull was especially electric.

Chandler fought the elder Pitbull brother at Bellator 157 in 2016. It was a signature performance from ‘Iron’. He used his agility, speed, and power to the fullest, knocking out his opponent in an emphatic manner in the first round of the contest. Chandler became the new and two-time Bellator lightweight champion with his win over Patricky.

Chandler vs Patricio Pitbull

Patricio is considered one of the best featherweights on the planet. He was the reigning 145 lbs champion of Bellator MMA when he fought the then lightweight champion of the organization, ‘Iron’. Things sort of became personal between the duo as Chandler has previously knocked out Patricio’s elder brother.

They fought at Bellator 221 in 2019. Patricio caught Chandler with an early shot and finished him in the first round of the contest. He became a two-division Bellator champion in the process. The reigning featherweight champion also added the lightweight belt to his collection f accolades.

Chandler fought under the banner of Bellator MMA twice after that. A knockout win against Benson Henderson was his last straw in the organization. ‘Iron’ finally completed his much-awaited move to the UFC. He believed he can mop the floor with anybody in his weight class. He has certainly got off to a perfect start.

Whether, ‘Iron‘ can become a UFC champion in only his second fight in the promotion, remains to be seen. He has star power and incredible skills as a fighter. A win over Oliveira will elevate him to a stratosphere of his own.
