After Winning $1,000,000 at Bellator Grand Prix via Vicious KO, Patchy Mix Reveals He Has Been Working on It “For Months”

A lot of people might agree on the point that MMA is one of the most exciting sports ever created. The fast-paced and rapidly changing sport has amassed a huge fanbase around the world, largely owing to its unpredictable nature. From underdogs clinching victory to bouts swiftly changing momentum from one end to the other, there are a number of exciting instances that have been witnessed in the world of MMA. Recently, the MMA community witnessed one more spectacle which might have had many of them leaping out of their seats.

The Bellator 295 featured the final of their MMA Grand Prix between Patchy Mix and Raufeon Stots. The bout proved to be an absolute enthraller, featuring one of the most vicious knockouts ever witnessed in the sport. Moreover, the knockout happened just 80 seconds after the beginning of the bout. Fans may agree that they had witnessed a fight worthy of a Grand Prix Final.

Both fighters took a cautious approach in the beginning seconds of the bout. However, after the first minute, Patchy Mix tried to go on the attack, but his right jab didn’t connect. Still, it had Stots taking a few retreating steps.

Mix also sensed that Stots would attempt to duck his strikes. He took a step forward and threw a strong knee that connected perfectly to the jaw of the Ducking Stots and sent him to the canvas.

Post his startling KO bout, Mix fired at all the ones who opined that he only had a strong ground game. He stated, “People think I’m just a ground guy. I just knocked out 19-1 Raufeon Stots in a minute with my backside knee”.

He also revealed how he had actually trained this shot. Mix stated, “I’ve been working that for months. I knew he dips, and I knew I could catch him. I earned these belts, I earned a million dollars, I earned my black belt tonight. So let’s get it, let’s go”. It’s pertinent to note that Mix bagged the $1M prize with his victory over Stots in the final of the Bellator Grand Prix.

Now, he will also stand a chance to unify his Bantamweight title against the victor of the coveted Sergio Pettis vs Patricio Pitbull bout scheduled for June. Nevertheless, this is not the first time in the prestigious tournament, Mix achieved decisive victories despite being an underdog.

Mix had also showcased his domination in the previous rounds of the Grand Pix. He faced the Japanese, Kyoji Horiguchi, in the quarterfinals of the Grand Prix. However, he outmatched his opponent’s class to win a unanimous decision victory.

He then went on to face the Dagestani, Magomed Magomedov, in the semifinals of the tournament. Shockingly, Mix secured a superb guillotine choke on the Dagestani, Magomedov, who eventually tapped out to it. Fans highlighted the stature of the landmark victory since he beat someone popular for his ground game.

Mix’s performance in the finals only solidified his deservingness as the winner of the Grand Prix.
