Diego Sanchez Takes a Huge Step to Counter Austin Trout Loss

Former UFC fighter Diego Sanchez made his debut in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship against Austin Trout at BKFC Knuckle Mania 3. The show was held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which saw Trout winning the co-main event via a fourth-round TKO win over the UFC Hall of Famer. However, Diego Sanchez is planning to file an appeal against the win.

Diego Sanchez was the middleweight winner of ‘The Ultimate Fighter 1’. He left the UFC in 2020. However, he went on to fight in MMA for a couple more years. He recently made his debut in BKFC, but it didn’t go too well for him as he accused his opponent of greasing.

Diego Sanchez and his team are looking forward to filing a formal appeal for the decision to be overturned. They will file the appeal with the New Mexico Athletic Commission (NMAC). Moreover, ‘The Nightmare’s team is hoping that the hearing for the appeal takes place in March.

Diego Sanchez accuses Austin Trout of greasing

The UFC Hall of Famer’s representative Ricky Kottenstette wrote to ‘MMA fighting’ and made a statement regarding the appeal. He said, “We will be filling a formal complaint with the NMAC to reverse the bout.” Even Diego Sanchez shared videos of Guillermo Perez applying Vaseline on Austin Trout between each round.

‘The Nightmare’ wrote this on Instagram: “This was in between rounds! And the video before was before the fight [Perez] and Austin’s corner in collaboration greasing shoulders and neck before the fight to thwart my game plan to actively strike from the clinch!”

He even pleaded with the concerned authority to overturn the decision of his BKFC debut bout highlighting his inability to eat properly. He wrote: “PLEASE HELP ME GET THIS LOSS OVERTURNED! I was cheated out of a fair fight and took scars that last a lifetime! And had to eat through a straw for three days! Had I got all greased up on my beard his punches would have slid off my chin as well! ” He also asked his fans and followers to share his post as much as they can.

Sanchez spent almost 15 years with the UFC. He signed with BKFC in the latter half of 2022, in December. His allegations of greasing have also drawn the opinion of American referee, John McCarthy. The TUF 1 winner made several other posts regarding the greasing issue and mentioned that he is actively seeking legal advice from professionals for the appeal.
