Francis Ngannou began his career working in the sand mines of Cameroon as a teenager. Though he grew up and was surrounded by abject poverty, he had bigger plans. To fulfill those plans, he would walk across a desert and cross the sea to get to Europe. Here he started his combat sports career in Paris, France.

And if that wasn’t impressive enough in itself, he would then train in MMA and go on to become the heavyweight champion of the UFC, the world’s premier MMA promotion. Not satisfied with this either, he left the UFC, signed a much better contract with the PFL, and has the Tyson Fury fight lined up. But in a recent interview, he spoke about what he believes is his biggest accomplishment while taking a shot at Dana White.

Francis Ngannou takes a dig at Dana White in an interview

In a conversation with the Shak MMA YouTube channel, Francis Ngannou was asked what he was most proud of in his career. The Cameroonian said that he was proud of standing up for himself and his self-belief. He never gives up and doesn’t let others determine his value or limit him. He was seemingly taking a dig at UFC boss Dana White.

“I stand up for myself. I never give up. I never let anybody take me out of my dream. I believe in me, I believe in my value. I don’t let people set up my value and my limits, so, yes, I get those stuff. As you said, this been a crazy year from January to now. But it’s by far the best years ever in my life,” the former UFC champion said.

Ngannou had left the UFC early this year over disagreements regarding fighter pay, medical insurance, and personal sponsorships. At the time of his exit, Ngannou was a free agent with no contracts or deals with other promotions on the table, and the Fury super-fight was not on the table.

Many felt this was a mistake as there was no guarantee he would get a better deal elsewhere. And for a few months, his position did look precarious. However, he signed a lucrative contract with the PFL in May and scored the Fury fight. Neither of which would have been possible without his self-belief and never-give-up attitude.

Based upon the training video and open workout, where ‘The Predator’ put on an atrocious show, most feel Ngannou has virtually no chance. Neither does Fury, it seems. However, considering the situations Ngannou overcame in life, one cannot completely count him out. Who do you think will win the fight? Let us know in the comments!
